Our Philosophy
At Sunny Hill Preschool, we believe in providing a classroom that is a caring, safe and equitable environment where each child can blossom and grow. We know that all children have many special gifts and that no two children are the same. Our preschool consists of a unique community of learners who vary in ages and learning styles. The teachers at Sunny Hill believe in providing children with the tools with which to cultivate their own gardens of knowledge. To accomplish this we teach to the needs of each individual child so that all learners can feel capable and successful.
Sunny Hill Preschool uses a play-based curriculum, because play is the most appropriate mode for a young child’s learning. Teachers utilize themes that derive from the adults or children in the classroom to extend learning, encourage inquiry, foster intellectual pursuit and provide opportunities for growth in all areas of development. Our integrative curriculum, which incorporates early literacy & math skills into a play & exploration-based environment, will help children gain the social and academic skills they need for kindergarten and for life.
Preschool education is a partnership between parents/caregivers and teachers. Our communication is facilitated through daily interactions, weekly planning calendars, frequent newsletters, conferences, and other special events throughout the school year. Parents are encouraged to become active members of our team by assisting during the school day, observing in the classroom or becoming members of the preschool board.
Sunny Hill Preschool Staff are lifelong learners who pursue growth opportunities inside and outside the classroom. The teachers learn through their interactions with parents and the community, from colleagues, and especially from the children.
Sunny Hill Preschool is an enriched learning environment where children shine!
